In this article about his daily blog writing practice, Seth Godin talks about commitment.

His point is that once you’ve decided to commit to posting each day, you no longer have to decide whether or not to post something, but instead simply decide what you’re going to post.

This may seem subtle, but for me it takes a lot of uncertainty out of the process. If I’ve committed to posting something here each day, then I just need to turn up and write, rather than fretting about whether this is the best use of my time.
