Regaining Control

I noticed recently, if I feel anxious and I don’t feel like doing something social, I take steps to regain the feeling of control over my actions.

If I can, I’ll choose what I’m eating, and what I’m doing with my time. Once I’m settled into whatever this is, I tend to feel better. Because just for a minute, there’s less uncertainty in the world.

What’s interesting is that I’ve been doing this without realising it, only recently did it occur to me that this is all in aid of feeling more in control. It’s amazing the patterns we can miss in our own behaviour.
