Resentment Creep

I don’t consider myself an angry person, but I can get resentful about helping people. Sometimes I’ll accept a favor and then feel bitter that I’ve said yes.

This can be because I’ve let my boundaries slip and should be saying no instead. But, I think it’s actually more to do with habit, more to do with a story I’m telling myself.

I think because I’ve felt resentful in the past, I can default to this feeling in the present. If I take a minute to stop and think, I can usually realise that I’m working on some cool creative project that I’ve agreed to do because I’m interested in it.

Resentment is not a helpful feeling-tone. I would like to cultivate a practice of noticing it so I can begin reducing it.
